We use anti-wrinkle treatments to treat lines and wrinkles in the face that are caused by excessive muscle movement, and as a technique to lift both the upper and lower regions of the face.  

These treatments are tailored to each person’s unique facial movements.  A targeted understanding of this movement allows us to predict and prevent areas of ageing.

Wrinkles are caused by both chronological age and by photo-ageing (ie. ageing due to sun exposure). Muscle movement, loss of collagen and elastin, and smoking all contribute to wrinkle formation. How we treat wrinkles depends on their severity and type.

Treatments for ageing skin can dramatically reduce wrinkles between the eyebrows, around the eyes and around the mouth.

  • Our clients are guided through a thorough consultation prior to your procedure.  Clinical photography is conducted to monitor the progress of your treatment, along with a skin and facial assessment, which provides an opportunity to fully discuss and address your particular areas of concerns.   Based on this information, a schedule of treatment will be customised specifically to your needs.

    The process of delivering an anti-wrinkle injection usually lasts for 10-15 minutes and involves the injection of small amounts of fluid into the target muscles, using a very fine needle.  There is usually no pain associated with the injection.   Some Skin Company clients notice a stinging sensation, in which case we apply an ice pack or numbing cream to the treatment area before the injection. 

    The results of this treatment are expected to appear after a few days, with the most noticeable changes at the two-week point.  If this is your first treatment, we recommend a follow-up appointment to discuss your results together and adjust dosage where necessary, as part of a procedure that is tailored to your particular needs.

    Anti-wrinkle injections require 10-14 days to take full effect, which means that no additional treatments will be performed before your two-week follow-up.

    The Skin Company will provide you with comprehensive aftercare instructions following each appointment.

  • One of the key benefits of anti-wrinkle injections is that there is no downtime required. After your treatment you will be able to return to your normal activities immediately. 

    You may notice some mild swelling and redness at the location of the injection and occasionally bruising.   The Skin Company will provide you with comprehensive after-care instructions following your treatment.

    The following instructions are recommended to lower the chance of side effects and to achieve the best possible results: 

    • Use ice and cooler packs to reduce discomfort, swelling and bruising

    • Avoid any strenuous activity or activities that make you warm for 12 hours

    • Do not apply makeup to the treated area for 12 hours

    • Do not rub or massage the affected area for 24 hours

    • Do not lie down in a flat position for 4 hours post-treatment, or do strenuous exercise in this position for the first 24 hours

    • Do not have any facial treatments such as laser or peels for 2 weeks following your treatment

  • This treatment is scheduled once every three to four months

  • No need to allow for downtime
