FAQs

  • Our clients are guided through a thorough initial consultation to determine whether BBL is the most suitable treatment to meet your individual concerns.  During your procedure, your eyes will be protected with safety goggles or glasses. The BBL procedure will give you the sensation of a warm snap of an elastic band to your skin as the light is absorbed by particular areas.  Pain relief is not necessary although topical local anaesthesia may be applied to more sensitive areas. 

    According to the size of the treatment area and the indication for the procedure, the process will take from 10 to 30 minutes.  In the case that it is recommended that your BBL treatment is combined with other options such as laser or skin tightening, this treatment time can be longer. 

    Thanks to the expertise of our highly trained team, the BBL procedure is gentle and low-risk.  Using highly advanced technology means that the broadband filters can also be used on higher risk skin types such as darker skin, that have previously been untreatable due to the risk of issues such as burns and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.  

    In some cases you will be prescribed a lightening cream or skin preparation cream for 2-4 weeks before recieiving BBL treatment, which ensures that your skin is in optimal condition.  Preparation is essential for the best results.  Sun exposure, tanning and fake tans are all to be avoided for at least two weeks before this treatment.   The Skin Company team will clearly explain the steps you need to follow before and after your treatment.

  • Prior to your treatment, a full consultation with your nurse or Dermal Therapist will ensure that BBL is the right treatment for your particular concerns. 

    We require that a skin check has been performed within the last 12 months  on the area to be treated.  If you have not received a previous check, Dr Sinovich will perform a quick assessment prior to your treatment. 

    In the case that BBL is performed with other treatments such as Moxi or skin tightening options, the duration of this treatment can be longer.

  • You will notice some redness and heat to your skin afterwards, however many of our clients return to work and their normal activities without delay.  Makeup can be applied but we recommend that you avoid any excess heat or heavy exercise and that you avoid exposure to the sun.

    Redness can last for a few hours and within a few days any marks of pigmentation will darken and gradually flake off and fade. This process may take up to two weeks, although makeup can be used to cover these temporary effects. Following the BBL procedure you can expect smoother, more refined skin, visibly fewer fine lines and pores and improved skin tone and colour. 

    These results do depend on the initial condition of your skin, the number of treatments performed, the particular areas treated and how well you are able to follow after care and sun avoidance advice.
