Scar Treatment
Scarring can be seen in the case of injury, surgery, or skin conditions such as acne, and can greatly influence self-esteem and quality of life.
Depending on the type and appearance of the scar, our treatments often comprise of both laser and laser-assisted drug delivery in their management approach.
Types of Scars
Hypertrophic scars: Raised, red scars caused by excess collagen during healing.
Keloid scars: Similar to hypertrophic, but grow beyond the original wound—more common in darker skin tones.
Atrophic scars: Sunken or flat scars from acne, chickenpox, or injury.
Contracture scars: Tight, restrictive scars often caused by burns.
Stretch marks: Form when skin stretches rapidly (e.g. pregnancy, weight gain).
Surgical scars: Result from incisions during surgery.
Traumatic scars: Caused by injuries like cuts, burns, or abrasions.
Acne scars: A distinct category that often requires tailored treatment.
The Skin Company approach:
A single treatment alone is not often effective to address scarring.
Multi-modal combinations of medical and laser therapy are necessary for optimal results. This blended therapy may include: intra-lesional steroids, skin penning, BBL for redness and fractionated ablative lasers, which can be combined with laser-assisted drug delivery.
