Skin Pen and Exosomes
The Skin Company uses Skin Pen, an advanced medical grade micro needling device for collagen induction therapy
This minimally invasive procedure causes micro-injuries on the skin’s surface stimulating the body’s natural healing process and leading to the production of collagen and elastin, which results in smoother, firmer and more youthful-looking skin.
The Skin Company uses Skin Pen technology, which is the only FDA approved advanced medical grade micro-needling device.
By creating micro-injuries on the skin surface we promote collagen and elastin production. We also offer add-on infusions that, when used with skin needling, encourage natural rejuvenation and regeneration of the skin. The Skin Company provides individualised solutions to treat concerns such as scarring, pigmentation, skin laxity and fine lines.
Exosomes are nanoscale carrier proteins that enable transport of various biomaterials. They are used for rejuvenation because they can improve fibroblast function and collagen synthesis, and also decrease oxidative stress and cell senescence. At The Skin Company, we use synthetic exosomes loaded with amino acids and growth factors, which are used at the time of skin needling to aid delivery. Combining exosomes with SkinPen microneedling enhances the restorative effects of the treatment.
SkinPen and Exosome treatment can be used to target many skin concerns including:
Fine lines and wrinkles
Mitigate changes in skin texture
Reduce the appearance of pores
Reduce acne or surgical scars
Reduce pigmentation
Reduce appearance of stretch marks

We will guide you through a thorough initial consultation, with the procedure itself taking 45-60 minutes. Where necessary, there may a topical anaesthetic applied to ensure you will feel no discomfort during the procedure.
With cleansed and prepped skin, the treatment involves the passing of a skin needling device over your skin, which penetrates the skin with fine stainless steel sterile needles. There may be a tiny tickling sensation. The procedure is not usually painful, although we find clients have different pain and discomfort tolerances to skin needling.
There may be a small amount of contact bleeding during the treatment, depending on the depth of the needling, but no bleeding once the treatment has finished.

Directly after your treatment, the treated skin will appear red and inflammation will occur. Some clients report that their face feels sunburnt and in the following few days the skin may feel tight and uncomfortable. For the best results we recommend that you closely follow the after care instructions that we will provide you with.
There is little downtime and aside from some redness and dryness, many of our clients return to work the following day. The amount of down time required depends on the particular course of skin needling that has been recommended to address your concerns.
It is important to follow your aftercare instructions and not to try to remove dry skin in the area of the treatment as this can increase the chance of problems such as scarring and infection. We also recommend that you wear and apply protective covering for your skin to avoid exposure to the sun and that you avoid any active skin care remedies (such as vitamin A) until advised by The Skin Company, to prevent interference with the post-procedure healing process.
